What motivates you to do what you do?

I am hugely motivated by results! I can get a bit obsessive with the data and metrics which show if a campaign is working.

How do you start your mornings?

They are pretty much the same every day – wake around 0630. I drink tea and check emails in bed and do some LinkedIn stuff. Then it’s a shower and at my desk by 8.

What does a ‘typical’ day at work look like?

They do vary but usually, a lot of screen time punctuated with client visits or a networking event. I also run training courses in LinkedIn or one to one coaching sessions.

Who do you lunch with?

I have become very anti-social, usually eating at my desk. I do have the radio on though.

When are you most productive?

Mornings. By 3pm I am flagging if I have been at my desk all day.

What one thing do you try to do every day?

Walk for an hour. This is a bit hit and miss!

What was your talk about?

Using LinkedIn to build your personal profile (brand, if you prefer) and find better quality connections . LinkedIn is growing fast and is an amazing resource for jobs, clients and content. The mobile app has made a big difference and now LinkedIn is appealing to a wider age range.

What is the best resource for people who want to dive in deeper?

I run a course which goes in much deeper – or look online, there’s lots out there

What is the one app/website/blog/newsletter that you wish was your idea?

I am addicted to my Garmin tracker (more data you see) so maybe that?

What is the biggest challenge in the [field/topic/industry] at the moment?

The sheer volume of content online makes it really hard for digital marketeers. It’s a challenge to keep up the volume of good content. I prefer organic reach but paid advertising is essential now.
